Frozen Bronzes
Bronze musicians on hall display,
in frozen time, french horn leads way.
Him perched on stool, she mimes on flute,
both face each other, duet mute
Our clock encased in darkened wood
feeling at times misunderstood.
Smug and hardened, looks down on all,
secure in barracks on the wall
Each quarter hour it strikes its chimes,
same blatant sounds, same dismal rhymes.
Music to ears, a change would be
if horn and flute would play for me.
I'd like to see the clock in shock
as classic number starts to rock.
Struck dumb and forced to listen here
while bronzes debut morning cheer.
This is clever and lighthearted and makes me smile. As I look around my living room I see the cast iron kitty cat that is always sleeping and once belonged to my paternal, Irish grandfather. It came woven with many tales from Grandpa Jack. I see the white antique pitchers on my table and wonder what stories lie behind them during the years they belonged to my maternal grandmother.I loved your creativity and visualization.!
