Why do digital watch/clock always starts from 12.00AM and analog watch/clocks on shop display pointed to 10?

Whenever I reset or turn on any digital clock/watch, it always starts from 12.00AM. And analog watch/clock which are on display at shops, the hands are always at 10 past 10. Whats the reason behind this?

Apparantly, 10 past 10, is the most astetically pleasing time to the eye. It is supposed to make you want to buy

Early History of Keyring Clocks

A new era of the history of the keyring clocks and pocket watches begins in the year 1675, when Christian Huygens publicly showed his invention of the spiral spring and balance at the Paris Academy of Sciences in France. Large Wall Clocks Always Have a Story to Tell With the Collectors

Large wall clocks are a statement: they say “Look at me!”. Most often they will dominate the room by the design, the appearance and even the noise that they make; although there are very silent big clocks too. However, why eliminate the noise when it is part of the very charm of the clock, you will undeniably know that the time still passes by as we’re used to.

Sometimes large wall clocks seem to have a story of their own; as a decorative item that is accented by the room details, such an item will draw the attention and inevitably rise questions. Why a large clock? Where did you buy it from? Was it expensive?

The collectors will be proudly presenting their biggest wall clocks with stories about the moment of the purchase; women will tell you about the way such an item fits perfectly with the color of the couch; the elder will tell you that they bought it to see better what time it is. Large wall clocks make a difference in a house, and there is definitely a reason for which you chose them in the first place.

When wall clocks are meant as gifts for friends it’s better to know one's preferences. The design is important when making such presents since the clock has to match the rest of the house: the color of the drapes, the walls, and the overall design of the furniture. Large wall clocks should fit in the atmosphere without any interferences, and it should dominate a room without getting in the way.

Large wall clocks in the children's room can help them learn to tell the time more easily, and be more responsible. First came cathedral towers, when masons and architects mastered the art of raising vertical structures, then the tallest structures possible. Cities and towns then began to construct bell towers, although their purposes were chiefly religious, such as to summon people to mass or to sound the time for prayers. Bell towers also had military value as observation points.

In 12th-13Th. the idea of wage-labor appeared as an alternative to serfdom or slavery in cities. In the 15th c. mechanical clocks were invented and their use spread. Those two creations allowed contract law to develop, and with that, the whole intellectual/commercial enterprises that gave rise to the Italian Renaissance. Venice, for example, soon had over 100 towers in the city. Bell towers were the first devices used to broadcast the units of time for secular, ie, labor, purposes. (The practice still maintained aboard naval vessels to keep time and organized ship's work.)

It was but a step for cities to begin to build clock towers to provide a common, accepted measuring unit for workers and employers to use in defining periods of work. Clocks became the key to Europe's wealth-creating secret of wage-labor, commercial organizations, and the joint-stock enterprise. Bell towers became the most common means for organizing labor and business in cities.
