My cuckoo clock bought in Freiburg,Germany was working fine till yesterday. When I wanted to wind up the clock (it is a 8 day model) I noticed that the cuckoo (bird) has got stuck and does not move even after pulling the chain up. The small rod which connects the cuckoo and the door does not move.The pendulum has also stopped ticking. I don’t live in Germany. Are there any authorized dealers in Mumbai?. Please advise me.
You don't name the brand of clock, so I'd be unable to tell you of any "authorized" dealers or repairers, however, cuckoo clocks are not that different from one brand to the next (as far as the works go), so any quality clock repairman should be able to fix it for you.
Before taking it in you could try a couple of these self-fixes and see if that helps - Dust, carefully vacuum, or blow out the dust and any dirt particles that may have accumulated inside the clock works encasement. Oiling may also help, as it could just be a friction issue. If you're not sure where to oil, you can fill a metal jar lid with turpentine (or any other oil based solvent) and lay that in the bottom of the encasement. This will lubricate the works and hopefully avoid problems in the future.
