Venice has the unique sadness of the world and is not short for the most elegant scenery in the history of the Mediterranean Sea. Most importantly, it is the bridge between the east and the west. This world famous city, located in the northeast of Italy, is built in the fifth century. Venice is four kilometers away from the mainland, on the one hundred and eighteen islands which belong to the Venice Lake. Over one hundred and fifty canals and four hundred bridges go on length and breadth and connect all these islands into a whole city. Venice becomes the most attractive city of tour for its unique appearance and abundant storehouse of art. The beauty of Venice lies in the green water, the groggy boats and the magnificent buildings of classical style. Looking around when standing on the St Mark's Square, the cross streets change into sinuous canals here. The vehicle which runs freely in other common cities changes into boats here. Every channel, every street, every chapel and every small square are the scenery and record the brilliant culture and history of this water city.
St Mark's Square is regarded as the most romantic Square. Birds of peace are the most important scenery here.
Waterloo Bridge connects the two buildings of the court and the prison. Generally speaking, the prisoners in this prison will not come out, alive. Waterloo Bridge becomes the last place where they can have a look at the sunshine. Thus, the prisoners can not help sighing when they pass by. As time passes, this place is called "Waterloo Bridge". Palazzo Ducale was the tiptop power department in the republic time of Venice. It is typically Gothic style with marble walls of pink color, continuous needle arches and round windows of pattern of four petals.
Saint Mark's Cathedral, with strong Byzantine's style, is said that it is a Cathedral which makes offerings to the author of the Gospel. Saint Mark is the guardian spirit of Venice and the symbol is lion. So lion is also the symbol of Venice.
On both sides of Saint Mark's Cathedral are the old and new administrator mansions of which the first floor is mostly used for cafes of which the most famous one is Cafe Florian. It is said that Hemingway and Byron often come here. Of course, the coffee here is the most expensive in Italy.
